The accommodation process requires the involvement of DSPS Professionals, the Faculty member, and the Student. Here you can see who does what.

DSPS Professional

  • Coordinate Interpreter services.
  • Review verification of disability and approve appropriate accommodations.
  • Provide educational services and access for eligible disabled students.
  • Provide registration assistance.
  • Enlarge printed materials.
  • Assist in captioning videos.

Faculty Member

  • Recruit volunteer note taker in the classroom.
  • Provide educational services and access for eligible disabled students.
  • Provide alternative assignments.
  • Provide accessible classroom work areas in accordance with the ADA.
  • Ensure programs are administered in an integrated setting.

DSPS Student

  • Request accommodation services.
  • Provide verification of disability.
  • Meet with a DSPS professional at least once a year.
  • Utilize DSPS accommodations in a responsible manner.
  • Advocate appropriately for disability related needs.
